BESS
The Real Time WAN Manager

The WAN Management application enables rapid delivery of Manged Services to Enterprises by service providers.

BA Systems Element Service Supervisor (BESS) enables the Enterprise customer to realize the benefits of effectively monitored and managed WAN services.

The software platform enables:
. Easy deployment and provision of Services such as Routing,QoS,Secuity and Multicast features
. Remote in -lifereal-time mangement in addition to standard FCAPS.
. Real-time online upgrde of services with tight inteeration with OSS/BSS.

BESS Provides a unique feature to trigger potential additional revenue streams through timely prompts for service upgrades using the BA Systems Point- Click-Enable paradigm.Other prominent features include redundant/ replicated BESS,levels of acess rights, enhanced views and effective management of deployed devices, granularlevel views of MIBS/TRAPS/Traffic details enabling better mangaement of QoS/Qos on IPsec/Firewall etc.

Minimal Touch Deployment:
Seamless and minimal-touch deployment of multiple EN3500/EN2400 routers at customer's locations from a centeral office (NOC). Dongle based or web based initial device configuration enables the router to contact NOC and NOC to push down pre-decided configuration on to box at specified time without user intervention.

Overview of BESS Features:

Reduced Capex : Enterprise class management solution deployed on a PC.

Monitoring support for Third party devices :
BESS allows standard SNMP based monitoring for other vendor devices that may be present in the network, providing health check and diagnostics for such non BA Systwem devices.

Flexible Server Platform :
Runs on Windows /XP, Redhat Linux/ Solaris.

Ease of Maintence :
Rollback gracefiull to the former software version under manual control if a probles occurs during an EMAS platform upgrade. Backup recovery options
.

Inventory Management
Automatic discovery of the device and topolgy including physical and logical inventory push down and activate images and configuration.

Fault Management
Automatic reconfiguration, graceful restart of autonomous process, and failover support for BESS database.

Alarm Management
Alarm forwarding to multiple listeners and to each listener with different criteria. Correlation of multiple alarm events for root cause management.

Online Configuration Management:
Allows online management of the various EN3500/ EN2400 functionalities.

Template Configuration Management:
In addition to online device configuration, it allows offline template creation/modification which can be pushed down to various devices at different points in time.

Performance Management:
Dashboard view of selevtive sensitive resources exceeding specific threshold values. Administrator configurable time periods.

Role-based Management. Device-group based performance reports.

Security Management(BESS):
Role based security rights for users and Super Administrator.

QoS Management:
Configuration wizards, real-time charts/ reports, threshold alerts, pro-active network health monitoring with router health check agents. Providing granularlevel QaS per logical interface.

Traffic Management
Flow pattern and band width reports based on Interface/TCP/UDP number of bytes/packets with drill down traffic reports to see top hosts/protocols. Trends during peak hours Traffic Management available in the from of high level MIB based bandwith monitoring for real time or historical data. Further granular level monitoring etails can be obtained using net flow, which, can provide only historical information.

Firewall Management
Wizard-based interface for the creative of firewall policies, analysis of denied requests, and major denied URLs

VPN Management
Wizard based configuration real time display of active tunnels vs. configured tunnels comperssion status with CPU utilization and VPN Failover management

Web Portal
provides monitor only functionality from remote sites, thereby reducing risk of security breach for configuration funcitionalities which is avaliable only from BESS clients.

SLA Management:
Uptime; committed Bandwidth; latency, packet loss, icon for displaying overall computed results.
SLA probe configuration and moitoring. GUI based SLA reports.

High Availability:
Automatic and manual active-standby EMS server failover.

LAN Management:
Ability to monitor/manage third party managed switches through standard SNMP MIBS.

Real Time The key differentiator

By installing our EMS at the customer location, the user is empowered to monitor/manage local network.
With Redundant EMS at SP NOC total control to deliver services with tighter integration with NMA (OSS/BSS) and Web portal.
Northbound Integration modules based on CORBA/SOAP/XML including HPoV, Tivoli, Concord.

Revenue Stream Online Top-Up Facility. The service provider can choose to provide different access rights for various function such as:
   Health check rights
   Traffic analysis rights
   Different QoS levels
Ability to automatically upgrade and /or purchase new services
   Redundant/Replicated BESS and enable:
   •   Monitoring of traffic based on IP address, QoS classes, etc.
   •   Proactive health checkup before running crucial operations like video conferencing without dependence on the SP

Enterprises need their mission-critical network application to be well managed and hassle free. BA Systems has focused on developing application that provide in-depth, real-time Network visibility. These applicatins work in harness with our Appliance Integrated Routers to provide Enterprises with the highest quality teal-time WAN management capability. Enterprises save significantly on OpEX through reduced service deployment and network management human resource and minimized fault resolutin time.
